Why should put your keywords in your domain name.

By Thomas Drayton of Darntoothysam.com

Ever wonder why people have their keywords with "-" in between them for their website names, or their words all together in one long string? Here is the real answer, and it may be different than what you have read before.

Search Engine Optimization or "SEO" is a very confusing topic for many especially because there is so much incorrect information out there. This will not be an SEO clinic, but I will shed some light on domain names for the time being.

When you are building a site that you want to rank in search engines for certain keywords the BEST thing you can do is get a link to that site from a different site with your keywords as the clickable words. You do NOT want "www.dvdguysmith4.com" to be clickable if you are selling DVDs, you want the keywords you use (maybe DVD movies, I don't know) to be clickable (the blue underlined link).

The link "Buy DVD Movies" gives your site "points" for the search term "buy dvd movies" no matter what you site name is.

So, if your site is named "www.buy-dvd-movies-here-X8.com" any time somebody makes your link clickable then you automatically get "points" for those words because they are the clickable link section!

A long string of your words together that is clickable is seen as ONE WORD so it will not help you at all!

Get it?

Hmm.. hope my competition isn't reading this, I don't want to help them!

Google: "digital camera parts", we are #1 and we are #2 for "digital camera repair" so trust me, I know what I am talking about.
